Tarek is researching what he terms “the body electric,” or the rendering of the body as a bounded entity that relies on the rapid-firing of electrical impulses to make sense of external stimuli. He is currently exploring “the body electric” as it exists in the research/practices of neuromusculoskeletal rehabilitation. He is a co-founder of Limb & Life, a research collective dedicated to identifying pressing rehabilitation needs in Gaza, and contributes to the Media Lab’s Sierra Leone Prosthetics & Orthotics Program. Tarek received his MSc in Built Environment: Environmental Design and Engineering from the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment (University College London, 2021) and his BA in Public Health Studies from the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences (Johns Hopkins University, 2020).
