Current Research Areas: work, governance, transportation, transaction, circulation, routes and routing, liquidity

Raha studies governance of movement – that of data, money, and people – through the lens of work and its future. Her first project examines the intersection of governance and work by focusing on the Lightning Network, a Bitcoin-based experimental payment system. She uses ethnographic methods to research those operating “routing nodes” that facilitate the movement of Bitcoin through this payment network. Her second project turns to public transportation systems and how operational workers run and monitor transit operations in a transit agency. Raha’s research is supported by the MIT Work of the Future initiative and she is also a visitor at the Urban Mobility Lab at MIT DUSP.
