Aisha’s interest lies in agriculture, food system development, and environmental finance. Her interest developed from a range of experiences: from studying food sovereignty and governance in East Africa to working on reports and policy briefs concerning the impact of nature-based farming methods in India.
Aisha’s current research focuses on the impact of Payment for Ecosystem Services (PES) mechanisms on small-scale regenerative farmers in Africa.

 

Aisha holds a BSc in International Studies from Leiden University, the Netherlands, and earned an MSc in International Development from Wageningen University & Research, the Netherlands, focusing on agro-geopolitics. She is the founder of the global advocacy campaign Cycle to Farms (www.cycletofarms.com), where she documents regenerative agriculture practices worldwide. Aisha loves gardening and is an avid long-distance cyclist with a passion for filmmaking and storytelling.
