Robin Wolfe Scheffler named HASTS Director of Graduate Studies

The Steering Committee of the Doctoral program in History, Anthropology, and Science, Technology and Society (HASTS) has announced that Professor Robin Wolfe Scheffler will succeed Professor Megan Black as the HASTS Director of Graduate Studies (DGS).

In the announcement to the HASTS community, Professor and Head of STS Eden Medina thanked Prof. Black for her thoughtful, committed leadership since summer 2024. Medina also observed that Prof. Scheffler is uniquely suited to the role given his regular instruction of STS.260, Introduction to Science, Technology, and Society, which is a required subject for first-year HASTS doctoral students. Scheffler has also been coordinating a multi-year effort to revise and restructure the HASTS Common Exam Reading List.

An associate professor of STS, Scheffler’s two-year term begins on July 1, 2026.
