Fourth-year PhD candidate Diego Cerna-Aragón has been elected to the 2026/27 Martin Family Society of Fellows for Sustainability at MIT. The Martin Fellowship is a highly competitive award that provides one year of academic and fellowship support to a small number of MIT doctoral students annually.
From next September through May, Diego will participate in a series of academic and community initiatives with nine other students across MIT’s five schools. Each of their dissertation research projects focuses on some aspect of environmental or social sustainability.
The Martin Family Society of Fellows for Sustainability was founded in 1992 and is named in memory of Lee Martin SB ’42. The fellowship continues to be made possible by the generosity of Lee’s family and their foundation.
Congratulations, Diego!
